πΌKey Responsibilities
The main purpose of this role is to supervise and manage all the technical equipment present in the stadium for three of our Football systems: Video Assistant Referee (VAR), Goal-Line Technology (GLT) and Electronic Performance Tracking System (EPTS).
You can find the more specific responsibilities here:
Provide support to the GLT operator in connecting the van with the Goal-Line Technology system equipment installed at the stadium and verifying the correct functioning of the latter;
Check that all the servers and equipment present on the van or in the Control Room are functioning and resolve the problems if necessary;
Connect the van or the Control Room with the Remote Center and test the connection with the Technical Guarantee in Lissone;
Check correct installation of the audio and Referee Review Area (RRA) system on the sidelines and test with Lissone;
Take the video signals from the control medium of all the cameras that frame the field and provide our outputs for: GLT/Semi Automatic Offside (SAO); VAR; ARE YOU THERE; VORcam;
Fill in the checklist relating to your role, reporting any uncompleted checks and specifying the reason;
Monitor the GLT and VAR systems during the match, communicating any problems to the Remote Center news station and resolving them with the support of the latter;

As part of the Hawk-Eye Tennis team, SMART Production provides multi-camera broadcast coverage at major sporting events across the globe, primarily on the ATP and WTA Tennis Tours. As our clients look to expand the reach of their sport by broadcasting on Amazon Prime Video, they rely on us to tell the stories from the outside courts at each tournament, showcasing the rising stars in World tennis.
SMART Production combines Hawk-Eyeβs vision processing software and Sony broadcast hardware to provide multi-camera broadcast coverage at a reduced cost and footprint. The system uses player tracking and autonomous robotic cameras to streamline the production workflow, replacing broadcast hardware with software solutions for vision mixing, running replays, adding graphics and managing audio.
There is scope to be involved in all aspects of the Hawk-Eye system, across the ever-increasing range of sports that we cover. As you progress you will have opportunities to pursue either a Technical, Production Management or Creative pathway with the responsibility to deliver your own projects.
πΌWhat does a Systems Operator do?
As an operator, you control a bespoke βall in oneβ director station. This includes directing, vision mixing, running your own replays and operating the on-screen graphics from one place.
Direct live tennis matches across the outside courts of the ATP Masterβs 1,000βs tour.
Travel and rig the SMART Production system in the build-up to a tournament.
Rigging includes installing the cameras, running the cables and setting up/testing the hardware and software for our operating stations in the outside broadcast compound.
Liaise with key stakeholders from the broadcasters and tournaments to ensure all contractual obligations are seamlessly delivered.
Monitoring the βElectronic Line Callingβ system delivery as an operator at tennis events throughout the year.
Providing assistance to the team to help resolve any technical/onsite issues.
Research and development into new projects and solutions within the broadcast industry/Hawk-Eye
Maintenance of kit and equipment needed to run the system in between/during events
Ad Hoc support work in between tours delegated out by your line manager/department leads

This is an exciting opportunity to work at elite-level tennis events all around the world alongside a dynamic, enthusiastic team that will constantly push your personal development. Your work will have a direct impact at some of the biggest events in sport; whether it is providing an official review in the Wimbledon final, setting up and operating a millimetre accurate system in Australia or helping to develop new bespoke software to better help tell the story of the match to viewers at home.
There is scope to be involved in all aspects of the Hawk-Eye system, across the ever-increasing range of sports that we cover. With this expansion comes the need for new faces to join our team. No one week or even one day at Hawk-Eye is the same, ranging from working in a team of three selling statistics to broadcasters, to the following week within a team of 50 or more monitoring camera performance at a Grand Slam!
The diverse nature of this role will involve the applicant showcasing their operational, creative and technical prowess in a practicable and real-world environment. Successful applicants will be hands-on from their very first day and will primarily play an integral role in setting up and operating the Tennis system at one of the 100+ events we cover each year both from an electronic line calling and broadcast content perspective, all whilst utilising their own skillset to further drive the business forward.
Initially, you can expect to spend 220 days per year on tour. You will be exposed to each pillar of the Tennis department in your early days, after which you will have the opportunity to specialise in any of the following pillars: Technical, creative, operations, SP and projects. Please see below for their areas of focus:
Technical: Testing, improving and stress testing our systems to improve the performance of our delivery across the tours.
Creative: Working closely with TV directors and external broadcasters to provide statistics and storytelling of data-driven insights across tennis matches during live broadcasts.
Operations: Reviewing, improving and strategising how we improve the efficiency of delivery across the globe
Projects: Onsite management of our service delivery across the globe. Liaising with external stakeholders to organise our technical requirements to be ready and sites to be prepared for our arrival and to deliver our services to the deadline of the events.
SMART Production: Rigging and directing live TV broadcasts across the Masters 1000s ATP tour.
As you specialise throughout your time in the tennis department there is the option to join a more project-focused team and workflow where you can spend more time in an office-based capacity. Although this does not diminish your opportunity to occasionally travel to some of the biggest Tennis events across the world.

A day in the life of an Ice Hockey Product Manager
As an Ice Hockey Product Manager at Hawk-Eye Innovations, you will be an essential member of a team dedicated to exploring global opportunities within the world of ice hockey, both present and future. Hawk-Eye Innovations, a leading provider of data products for the world's most prominent sports, is looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our agile Data Team, primarily based in our Basingstoke office.
π― Your Mission:
As part of our team, you'll build, develop and maintain applications across a range of sports, providing crucial information to our internal and external customers. Our focus is developing robust, scalable data platforms using cloud-based microservices.
You'll work in collaboration with our product team and customers to understand requirements and craft solutions to some of the most complex challenges in sports technology. We'll rely on your leadership and technical skills as you spearhead key engineering projects, aiding in our ongoing expansion.
π Your Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality backend code that aligns with specifications and is easily extendable
Engage in the complete development lifecycle, including scoping, design, and implementation
Provide motivation and mentorship to fellow team members
Manage code releases, including tests and production
Collaborate closely with Product and Project managers to ensure effective solution-building
β Your Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
Essential:
Mastery in Java
Proven experience in high-performance, real-time application development
Strong understanding of scalable systems
Proficiency in web service development (RESTful APIs)
Familiarity with JUnit & mocking frameworks, microservice architecture, Git, and Agile/SCRUM methodologies
Nice to have:
Knowledge of Spring Boot & Framework, Docker, AWS (EC2, ECS, S3, RDS, etc.)
Experience in architecting and building Cloud-based applications
Understanding of disaster recovery, availability, and business continuity issues
Familiarity with Message Queues (RabbitMQ, Pulsar, AMQ), CI/CD (Jenkins), relational databases and SQL (PostgreSQL), Hibernate
