โWHAT THE JOB IS ALL ABOUT ยป
This is an exciting opportunity to work at elite-level tennis events all around the world alongside a dynamic, enthusiastic team that will constantly push your personal development. Your work will have a direct impact at some of the biggest events in sport; whether it is providing an official review in the Wimbledon final, setting up and operating a millimetre accurate system in Australia or helping to develop new bespoke software to better help tell the story of the match to viewers at home.
There is scope to be involved in all aspects of the Hawk-Eye system, across the ever-increasing range of sports that we cover. With this expansion comes the need for new faces to join our team. No one week or even one day at Hawk-Eye is the same, ranging from working in a team of three selling statistics to broadcasters, to the following week within a team of 50 or more monitoring camera performance at a Grand Slam!
The diverse nature of this role will involve the applicant showcasing their operational, creative and technical prowess in a practicable and real-world environment. Successful applicants will be hands-on from their very first day and will primarily play an integral role in setting up and operating the Tennis system at one of the 100+ events we cover each year both from an electronic line calling and broadcast content perspective, all whilst utilising their own skillset to further drive the business forward.
Initially, you can expect to spend 220 days per year on tour. You will be exposed to each pillar of the Tennis department in your early days, after which you will have the opportunity to specialise in any of the following pillars: Technical, creative, operations, SP and projects. Please see below for their areas of focus:
Technical: Testing, improving and stress testing our systems to improve the performance of our delivery across the tours.
Creative: Working closely with TV directors and external broadcasters to provide statistics and storytelling of data-driven insights across tennis matches during live broadcasts.
Operations: Reviewing, improving and strategising how we improve the efficiency of delivery across the globe
Projects: Onsite management of our service delivery across the globe. Liaising with external stakeholders to organise our technical requirements to be ready and sites to be prepared for our arrival and to deliver our services to the deadline of the events.
SMART Production: Rigging and directing live TV broadcasts across the Masters 1000s ATP tour.
As you specialise throughout your time in the tennis department there is the option to join a more project-focused team and workflow where you can spend more time in an office-based capacity. Although this does not diminish your opportunity to occasionally travel to some of the biggest Tennis events across the world.
