Someone who writes well and can communicate difficult concepts clearly and objectively and knows how to communicate with different audiences. Finally, someone who is organized and naturally drives projects with the sense of ownership of a startup founder.
We are especially interested in candidates who have led product initiatives working on B2B/SaaS projects, involving aspects of creative support, data visualization, or modern collaboration.

1. About us
Onebrief is building the future of military decisions. Our product is suitable for operational planning across the force, but we’re focused initially on large-scale OPLANs and CONPLANs.
We’re a true Silicon Valley startup. We’ve raised $21.1M in Venture Capital, and we’re backed by Y Combinator (original backer of Airbnb, Stripe, Reddit, Dropbox). Our advisors include Lieutenant General H.R. McMaster (former National Security Advisor), Lieutenant General Lewis Craparotta (former Commander, Marine Forces Pacific), and Brigadier General Mike Meese (former Social Sciences Dept Head at West Point).
We’re a small and rapidly growing team. We’re spread worldwide, across Korea, Hawaii, CONUS, the UK, and Germany. Today, there are 28 people on our team, up from 4 last January.
Our goal is to become the single collaborative planning solution – from the Battalion level up to the Joint Staff, for the US and our allies around the world.
2. About the job
You will lead our effort to build the future of military decisions within the European theatre and NATO. Your primary focus will be military organizations South of the Alps.
(1) Ensure customer operational planning teams succeed with Onebrief
(2) Expand our presence within the region, so that 100% of their planning occurs in Onebrief
(3) Coordinate with cyber accreditation authorities and our DevSecOps team to support the rapid deployment of our software on various classified networks
(4) Lead our expansion into major operational commands in the EUCOM and AFRICOM AORs
You will also:
Lead our support to exercises
Use your observations of our users to recommend product improvements
Provide face-to-face and remote customer support
Develop an understanding of customer social dynamics in order to support renewals and future sales
When responding to incidents (product is unexpectedly not delighting the customer), coordinate with the customer and our product engineering team
To succeed, you’ll need a mastery of operational planning at multi-star headquarters. When you speak, do lead planners listen? Do generals and admirals?
You’ll need to develop technical skills to master the application and troubleshoot from the edge.
3. About you
You have credibility with customers and deeply understand large military headquarters. The Commanding General cares what you have to say and so do skillful planners, mainly in the rank of O-4 to O-6.
You can get things from large government organizations Example: our engineer needs admin access to a system on JWICS, in order to diagnose technical issues. It’s an unusual request, and no one at the customer knows what to do. Everyone tells you it’s not possible, but you love a bureaucratic challenge. You legally and ethically solve the problem with a few phone calls.
You have technical skill You don’t need to code, but you do need to be savvy. Can you become a power user of our product and talk engineering with the customer?
You work well with customers You understand them and they confide in you. Users are happy to see you walk through their door.
You’re intense about our mission.
It’s a core part of who you are. This is service to the nation and we add value to the DOD.
You’re ambitious.
We’re getting bigger. You should want your duties and responsibilities to grow with the company.

2. About the job
At each major headquarters under your responsibility:
Own the entire customer relationship, from users up to Generals/Admirals
Rapidly expand product usage until ~100% of J35 and J5 plans are in Onebrief. You’ll need a combination of ordinary training and subtler strategies to get our product used as much as possible
Win the renewal and expansion, so that your customer(s) keep buying Onebrief each year. Deals should expand over time
Clearly communicate user needs to the product team. Maintain a high product proficiency, and excite the customer about each product improvement
Gather intel about the command, budget, and region to support growth
Instill the Onebrief brand image
Enable our expansion to allies and partners in the Pacific
Your responsibilities aren’t limited to this list! We’re on this great adventure together, and we’ll each do what it takes for the team to succeed
You will report to our Director of Pacific Operations, Richard “Bean” Hill. Bean is a Naval aviator (F-14 and F-18) and expert planner, who most recently served as the Deputy Director of Plans and Policy at US Pacific Fleet.
We’re always growing. If you want more responsibility, it will be easy to find. We’re a fast-growing startup. We were a 4-person company last year and a 25-person company now. We plan to reach 100 within the next year. New positions of increasing responsibility often become available.
3. About you
You love our users, and you want to work with them. This is the single most important requirement. Implementing new software requires the enthusiastic support of our user base — skillful planners, primarily in the grade of O-4 and O-5. You understand them, and they confide in you. Users want you around, and they ask you to have a beer
You deeply understand large military headquarters. Skillful planners, mainly SAMS or SAW graduates in the rank of O-4 to O-6, respect you and care what you have to say. So do Generals and Admirals
You pay attention to detail. People rely on you. At your previous teams, you had a reputation as a workhorse. Example: we’re about to run a planning exercise, which will be USEASTCOM’s first exposure to our product. No one is worried, because they know you’ve taken care of it
You can get things from large government organizations. Example: our engineer needs admin access to a system on JWICS, in order to diagnose technical issues. 2. About the job
You will lead our effort to build the future of military decisions in USTRANSCOM and its service components. In the short term, you’ll be implementing our software at Air Mobility Command.
You’re walking into a very good situation: the AMC staff is very enthusiastic about our product. They used it in a mini-exercise already and loved it. Still, implementations are hard. Your immediate priority is to get Onebrief broadly used across the headquarters.
Meanwhile, USTRANSCOM is interested in getting Onebrief for itself and the rest of its service components. This is NOT your immediate priority: worry about the AMC implementation first. In the medium term, you should leverage your success at AMC to expand Onebrief across the entire USTRANSCOM ecosystem.
(1) Ensure customer operational planning teams succeed with Onebrief — initially at Air Mobility Command, and later at USTRANSCOM and its service components
(2)Lead our expansion across USTRANSCOM and its service components, so that 100% of their planning occurs in Onebrief

Develop an understanding of customer social dynamics in order to support renewals and future sales
When responding to incidents (product is unavailable, broken, or not delighting the customer), coordinate with the customer and our product engineering team
To succeed, you’ll need a mastery of operational planning at 3-star and 4-star headquarters. When you speak, do smart planners listen? Do generals and admirals?
You’ll also need technical skill. You don’t need to code, but you do need to be savvy. Can you become a power user of our product and talk engineering with the customer?

2. About the job
You will report to our Chief Operating Officer. Your single most common task is to implement Onebrief at a new customer. Example:
USEASTCOM (fictional Combatant Command) has just purchased a Onebrief license. Their headquarters and all of their Service Component Commands will start planning in Onebrief. You fly to the USEASTCOM headquarters routinely to make this happen
The core planning team is excited about Onebrief, but there’s a lot of other planners and stakeholders who are skeptical. You need win them over
They’ve seen demos yet, but they’re not familiar with the product. You will need to train them
If their first major planning event (such as a Mission Analysis conference) is a success, then they’re much more likely to succeed with Onebrief. You will make it a success
You will also:
Lead our exercise program. We routinely provide exercises, which customers use both to assess our product (before a sale) and learn it (after a sale)
Use your observations of our users to recommend product improvements

Your responsibilities aren’t limited to this list! We’re on this great adventure together, and we’ll each do what it takes for the team to succeed
We’re always growing. If you want more responsibility, it will be easy to find. We’re a fast-growing startup. We were a 4-person company last January and a 35-person company now.
3. About you
You deeply understand large military headquarters Skillful planners, mainly in the rank of O-4 to O-6, respect you and care what you have to say
You pay attention to detail. People rely on you. At your previous teams, you had a reputation as a workhorse Example: we’re about to run a planning exercise, which will be USEASTCOM’s first exposure to our product. No one is worried, because they know you’ve taken care of it
You can get things from large government organizations Example: our engineer needs admin access to a system on JWICS, in order to diagnose technical issues. It’s an unusual request, and no one at the customer knows what to do. Everyone tells you it’s not possible, but you love a bureaucratic challenge. You solve the problem with a few phone calls
You have technical skill You don’t need to code, but you do need to be savvy. Can you become a power user of our product and talk engineering with the customer?
You work well with customers You understand them, and they confide in you. Users ask you to have a beer
You’re intense about our mission. It’s a core part of who you are
You’re ambitious. We’re getting bigger. You should too
