The Data Programs team validates language data and provides language, linguistic and phonetic input to our ASR and NLU engineering teams, directly working with them to train and test our speech models and NLU results.
We advocate for our customers and their end users to ensure a satisfying voice user experience, from the recognition of speech queries/commands, to the responses from our NLU systems.
The work location for this role is available throughout Canada. The workplace options for this role include virtual, hybrid, and in-office. We have an office in downtown Toronto that you are encouraged to work from if you live in or near Toronto.
In this role, you will:
- Actively contribute to language tasks needed to support and improve our technology
- Validate speech training data, curate pronunciation dictionaries, produce phonetic transcriptions, define phonological rules, and analysis of test results
- Have the opportunity to contribute to the creation and adaptation of best practices, processes, and procedures as we grow the team
- Work collaboratively with peers and managers, and help further expand our language coverage
We would love to hear from you if:
- You have native-level proficiency in Bengali (written, verbal, and grammar)
- You are trained in language studies, phonetics, and/or have a language degree, degree in Linguistics, or equivalent experience
- You are extremely focused and enjoy completing detailed, repetitive data quality verification tasks daily at a very high-quality level
- You are flexible and collaborative, but you can also work independently and enjoy taking on new tasks
- You are accountable, taking 100% ownership with extremely high attention to detail and follow-through
- You are skilled in problem identification, problem-solving skills, and pattern recognition, particularly in languages
- You are able to successfully communicate and navigate around ambiguity and changes in aspects of projects, including resources, priorities, risks, and dependencies
We’d be especially excited if you have experience working with various phonetic transcription systems, are familiar with capturing phonological rules, have worked with training data for machine learning, have project management/coordination experience, and have experience working with external business partners and vendors.
