About the role:

Modular is building a next-generation AI infrastructure platform that unifies the many application frameworks and hardware backends, simplifying deployment for AI production teams and accelerating innovation for AI researchers and hardware developers. We are looking for someone to lead our Developer Relations team, which involves a mix of strategic planning, leadership, and hands-on engagement with developers. In this role, you will work closely with our product management, tech writing, program management, and engineering teams to put together a cohesive developer engagement strategy, drive top-of-the-funnel interest in Modular products, and grow our burgeoning developer community. LOCATION:

This role is based out of North America. You can work out of one of our offices in Seattle, WA or remotely from home.

What you will do:

  • Lead a team of Developer Advocates, ensuring the team's activities are aligned with the company’s goals, and provide support and coaching to grow and develop individual team members in alignment with Modular values.
  • Develop a strategic plan, and be responsible for key metrics that help the company drive its product, community and sales goals by defining clear team objectives and success metrics.
  • Support team members to develop high-quality technical content, including blog posts, tutorials, documentation, videos, and webinars, and ensuring that it aligns with the company's messaging and resonates with the developer community.
  • Define and execute strategies for building and nurturing a strong developer community around the company's products. This may include organizing events, contests, and initiatives to engage and grow the community.
  • Maintain a strong technical understanding of the company's products, tools, and platforms to guide the team effectively, and contribute individually where needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including product management, tech writing, and sales to ensure a cohesive approach to developer engagement and outreach.
  • Communicate team progress with senior leadership, ensuring they are informed about the progress and impact of developer relations efforts.

What you bring to the table:

  • 9+ years of developer relations experience, with at least 2 years of people management
  • Past experience working on AI infrastructure products and platforms like TensorFlow, PyTorch, TensorRT, CUDA, Triton Inference Server, VertexAI, Sagemaker.
  • Experience writing high-quality tutorials, product documentation, blog posts, and other documents targeted for a highly technical audience.
  • Experience engaging with the developer community through various channels, such video platforms and online communities.
  • Experience giving talks at conferences and other events.
  • Strong programming skills, including experience with python and C++.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts in simple language.
  • A passion for staying up to date with industry trends and happenings.
  • A growth and leadership mindset, with an attitude that seeks to learn more from our customers, team, and the broader market.

Helpful experience (Not Required)

  • Developed, trained, and/or deployed machine learning models into production environments.
  • Have worked in or around startups before or have a strong understanding of the nature of fast-moving, highly dynamic teams.

The estimated base salary range for this role to be performed in the US, regardless of the state, is $234,000 - $286,000 USD. The salary for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of permissible, non-discriminatory job-related factors, which include but are not limited to education, training, work experience, business needs, or market demands. This range may be modified in the future. The total compensation for a candidate will also include annual target bonus, equity, and benefits, with equity making up a significant portion of your total compensation.
