This job is opening soon. We invite you to express your interest ahead of time so that our recruiting team can begin reviewing your background.

Our Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) team is currently focused on training a multimodal Generative AI foundational model (Polaris) which will serve as the core of our next generation platform. This model enables more dynamic support for numerous languages and prompt-based instant customization capabilities. The Polaris project affects nearly every aspect of our system and as such implies a significant migration effort. The ASR Systems team in particular is responsible for our C++ production speech recognition system, much of which will need to be refactored, rewritten, or decommissioned outright as we migrate to Polaris.

The work location for this role is Toronto. The workplace options for this role include In-Office or Hybrid. Compensation includes a competitive salary, equity in the form of RSUs, comprehensive health care, paid time off, and other benefits.

In this role, you will:

  • Help migrate our existing C++ production system to a new ASR model architecture
  • Collaboratively support our existing production system until fully migrated to the new architecture
  • Longer term, work on other high-priority projects to improve performance and scalability of our Smart Ordering product

We would love to hear from you if:

  • You have a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience
  • You have solid foundational knowledge of C++
  • You are highly skilled with advanced data structures and algorithms
  • You have experience working successfully in large complex software systems
  • You have at least moderate understanding of Python and are eager to learn more as needed
  • You are inherently curious, ask good questions, learn quickly, and adapt as needed
  • You are motivated by helping enable your colleagues and product to be successful
  • You are driven to understand what is most important and focus on it through to delivery

We’d be especially excited if you have prior experience with speech recognition or neural networks more generally.
