We’re looking for a strong Head of Teacher Professional Development who will lead and own the creation of professional development materials and resources for educators using Kira Learning. For many of the teachers using our platform, this is their first time teaching Computer Science. We need someone who not only understands the content knowledge, but also pedagogy and can create instructional materials, own content and training sessions, and provide ongoing support as needed to educators. The ideal candidate has a background in teaching Computer Science, knows how to build educator-centric professional development curriculum, communicate with district and site leaders, and is interested in making a lasting impact with the way Computer Science is taught.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop high-quality and engaging professional development materials and resources for teachers and partner with other Curriculum Developers to ensure all content is aligned with course planning for students.
- Craft educator-centered trainings and professional development sessions that align with pedagogical best practices.
- Interact with teachers to understand student, teacher and classroom needs
Experiences & Skills
- Extensive experience designing, implementing & evaluating development, facilitation and dialogue for educators
- A strong understanding of Computer Science Principles and how to best support the professional development of teachers
- Experience teaching Computer Science and STEM classes at the high school level and familiarity with with teaching strategies needed for strong student outcomes, as well as an understanding of the professional learning needs of educators in a middle & high school environment
- Preferred experience in K-12 Classroom teacher in Computer Science
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; you can patiently, professionally and effectively communicate with a diverse and multicultural group of peers across time zones and continents
- Nimble, scrappy and adaptable. Can roll with the punches and thrive in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment
- A positive, can-do attitude. You’re not deterred by minor setbacks and are able to swiftly overcome ambiguity
- You believe feedback is a gift. You can thoughtfully share feedback to others as needed, and you can receive feedback and grow from it.
- Will consistently cultivate a culture of inclusion where all team members feel a sense of belonging and can bring their authentic selves to work
- Empathy for students, teachers, and other team members
- Strong proficiency in Google Workspace programs, Microsoft Office Suite
$100,000 - $130,000 a year
Competitive salary ($100,00 to $130,000) and equity package in a well-funded, high growth company. Compensation is based on a number of relevant factors such as location, professional experience and related skill sets.
