We seek mission-driven, highly skilled people with deep experience in fast-paced, rapidly growing, tech development environments. As a Training Specialist, you will contribute to the development, facilitation, and evaluation of our autonomous vehicle training program as well as frequently operate and test our autonomous vehicles on both public roads and closed courses. You will serve as an ambassador for safe operations, providing feedback on autonomous system performance and behaviors, while helping to produce the next generation of Operation Specialists. The ideal candidate should have a mission-driven mindset to deliver a product that entails significant cross-functional interaction and customer centric obsession to deliver a compelling product.
What Success Looks Like:
- Function within and contribute to a culture of safety, safeguarding the reputation of our company and industry.
- Facilitate and evaluate the efficacy of Operations training programs, including certification and endorsement programs, continuous education and remediation initiatives, and day-to-day coaching experiences.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of all Operations training programs, working in collaboration with members of the Operation Performance Management team and various cross-team stakeholders and subject matter experts.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to support the onboarding and continued development of Operational Specialists and those who operate our vehicles and self-driving system.
- Operate and test a vehicle equipped with autonomous systems on both closed courses and public roads.
- Participate in weekly team meetings and collaboratively work on team projects whenever assigned.
- Participate in pre- and post-shift briefings to receive information required for safe development, testing and operating of our technology.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and checklists, completing documentation that proactively ensures platform readiness and safety.
- Provide clear, actionable and effective feedback on system/vehicle performance and behaviors by way of daily stand-ups and syncs with team members, management and leadership.
- Demonstrate effective execution of missions, balancing quality with deliberate attention to detail.
- Demonstrate efficient time-management skills, balancing meaningful work units with respect to time.
- Perform other related and operations-critical duties as assigned by management.
- Experience in on-the-job performance evaluation as well as providing both written and verbal constructive feedback.
- Maintain a current Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brakes endorsement, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience.
- A clean driving record, capable of clearing a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check.
- Thorough understanding and application of OSHA, DOT, FMCSA regulations with a functional understanding of commercial vehicle equipment and inspection including Electronic Logging Devices (ELD).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Functional understanding of business computing systems (PC/Mac/Linux).
- Travel based from the work location above (Pittsburgh, PA), intermittent to regular up to 50%.
