The impact you will have
Wayve is looking for an experienced business development professional to join our Automotive Partnerships Team, forging innovative first-of-kind collaborations with global automakers and tier one suppliers on the path to fully autonomous driving. Your Responsibilities
In collaboration with the other safety expert(s):
- Conduct safety analyses, such as SOTIF and STPA, literature reviews and brainstorm sessions to identify the risks, functional insufficiency and triggering conditions of Wayve’s ADS;
- Define SOTIF acceptance criteria and design strategies for the verification and validation of Wayve’s ADS;
- Work collaboratively with Wayve’s driving intelligence team to define the most appropriate architectural and development measures to ensure ADS’ performance and safety prior to, and, after deployment;
- Contribute to the design, implementation and validation of Wayve safety assurance framework for its L4 ADS;
- Support the functional safety activities about Wayve’s ADS, and its integration into present and future vehicle platforms, or the integration of third party safety-critical systems.
Your Skills
Mandatory:
- Very good understanding of the SOTIF development process as per ISO 21448 with a minimum 3 year experience in applying the standard on different ADS systems;in particular:
- strong confidence in conducting risk assessments, the identification of potential triggering conditions and the design of methods to uncover unknown unsafe scenarios;
- good understanding of safe design principles, and the capabilities and limitations of various sensory modalities;
- good knowledge of various L3 or L4 ADS architectures, their benefits and shortcomings;
- experience in defining SOTIF performance requirements and working with various design teams to achieve them;
- StrongGood knowledge of ISO 26262:2018 with and a minimum 5 year experience in applying the parts 2..6, 8 and 9 on a variety of vehicle systems.
Desirable
- Practical experience in conducting SOTIF verification in various test environments (simulation, proving grounds, public roads).
- Expertise in ISO 26262-6; the candidate must have practical experience in developing or leading the development of ISO 26262 compliant production software and in the qualification of software tools.

- How to leverage simulation for controlled experimental insight, training data augmentation, and re-simulation
- How to scale models efficiently across data, model size, and compute, while maintaining efficient deployment on the car
As a Principal Scientist, you’ll be expected to contribute actively to the Science leadership team, inclusive of proposing new projects, organising their work, and delivering substantial impact across Wayve.

In your role you will be responsible for designing the software architecture to integrate our ML-based AD solution into an automotive L2-L3 system application. This includes the strategy and the concept of how to embed our fundamentally new autonomy solution in future OEM software environments. You will also engage with our customers and represent our approach and our company in the planning and execution of collaboration projects.
You will grow with the company and be critical in establishing how software stack design for automotive applications with software engineering leads. Our stack includes base software for sensor data processing, neural network execution and diagnostics and robotic functions for vehicle control.

Wayve is developing next-generation autonomous driving technology, to enable autonomous transportation services. We are partnering with two of the UK’s biggest online grocery delivery fleets to trial live operations of our self-driving technology on public roads.
As Director of Engineering you will manage the Embodied AI group within our Software Engineering organisation. You will report to the VP of Software who reports to the CEO. There are four software groups:
- Cloud Infrastructure (data and ML training infra)
- Onboard Software (the car computer system software)
- Embodied AI Products (the AI+Robotics autonomy software and data)
- Product Delivery (the experimentation and product delivery workflows)
The Embodied AI group is closest to the business within the Software organisation. You get to work directly with business leadership and industry partners, and help shape our products. It is a Product Development role working closely with a separate Research Team that provides step improvements in model performance/safety.
The role is on the critical path to the financial success of the business. You are responsible for taking promising prototype AI models and delivering an autonomous vehicle capability roadmap with production-level quality. This includes collecting, filtering and selecting the most relevant training data; and then training, tuning, debugging production models, as well as developing the Robotics software stack. The technology will need to be proved in multiple geographical areas, working with a separate Operations team.
You are expected to establish solid ML practices from the start and to attract technical leadership. You will lead two teams to start with: Robotics (established, needs to grow) and Production Model and Data (in bootstrap phase, you need to build it up).
You will set the technical direction in your area and ensure that deliverables align with company objectives. Where you will have an impact
As an estimation engineer your focus will be on the algorithms which provide estimates of various key data required by other parts of the AV stack. Some examples include vehicle motion (pose, velocities, accelerations), parameters which govern the vehicle dynamics, and calibrations of sensors. As such, your work will have direct impact on how well our cars drive.
You will write both real-time software to run on our robots and offline software for post-hoc estimation, visualisation and analysis.
You will work with a small team to write code, debug hard problems which impact real world applications and help us win the space-race of the 2020’s: Autonomous Driving. If you have experience as a Software Engineer, Systems Engineer, Production Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, or Robotics Engineer with a focus on performance and systems you’ll be well prepared for this role, but we encourage anyone who’s passionate about systems, scale and reliability to apply!
Working in the Robotics team, you will be responsible for building, deploying and tuning estimation algorithms. This includes responsibilities like:

Where you will have an impact
The Lead Product Security Architect sits within our wider Security Team and reports to the Head of Security.
You will be responsible for establishing Wayve’s Product Security function, ensuring we have the processes, tooling and structures in place to deliver security by design within our products, and comply with future regulatory obligations (e.g. R155).
You will partner with the technical and commercial teams responsible for developing/procuring our products, both onboard and offboard, to ensure security risks are identified and appropriately managed throughout the product lifecycle.
As a Lead Product Security Architect you will:
- Work with the Head of Security to establish Wayve’s product security function
- Define and deliver a roadmap of processes and other requirements necessary for Wayve to comply with relevant regulations and standards (e.g. R155 and ISO21434)

As a GPU performance engineer, you will be focussed on getting the most out of the hardware on our vehicles, and enabling us to deploy larger and more powerful models on the road. The impact you will have
As a Software Test Engineer for our AV 2.0 stack, you will be responsible for ensuring that the integrated software stack performs as required for safe, autonomous operation on the road.
As one of the first Software Test Engineers at Wayve, you will grow with the company and be critical in establishing what good software delivery looks like across Wayve. You will establish our approach to automated software integration testing and work closely with software engineering leads. Our stack includes base software for sensor data processing, neural network execution and diagnostics and robotic functions for vehicle control.
You will also act as a coach to others towards a test-driven development mindset to help teams deliver automotive quality software.
Challenges you will own:
- Work closely with software engineers and system engineers to define test cases and pass/fail criteria for our AV 2.0 stack
- Design and build a HIL infrastructure as an environment for automated testing
- Build the framework for automated test execution, test scheduling, and test result dashboard creation
- Write scripts for automated software integration tests (Aspice SWE5 & SWE6)
- Develop tools for scalable generation of test scenarios based on collected data
- Strategically plan the roll-out of tests towards automotive grade software delivery
- Help define the release process with standardised release tests
- Integrate the test execution into the CI pipeline
- Share test results with the team and discuss improvement plans

About you
Essential:
- You have a degree in computer science, engineering or a comparable field
- You have 5+ years of experience in automotive software testing
- You have built HILs and test environments
- You have excellent programming skills in Python and C++
- You have written software integration tests for automated test execution for automotive programs
- You have a bias for action and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting quickly to changing priorities.
- You consider yourself to have an optimistic and open-minded attitude towards solving problems and want to take on the challenge of AVs: the space-race of our generation!
Desirable:
- You have been part of a Level 2 / Level 3 automotive series program, ideally at an OEM or Tier1
- Experience with ASPICE or ISO26262 is a plus
- Hands-on experience in Rust is a plus

As one of our first automotive system engineers, you will be responsible for designing the L2/L3 automotive grade system based on our AV2.0 approach. This includes the strategy and the concept of how to embed our fundamentally new autonomy solution in future OEM vehicle infrastructures. You will also engage with our customers and represent our approach and our company in the planning of collaboration projects.

Challenges you will own:
- Design the L2 and L3 system including the integration into an OEM onboard and offboard infrastructure with a focus on software features, architecture and interfaces
- Engage on a deep technical level with our engineering leads to identify the optimal system design, considering safety, vehicle level integration, scalability, and implementation efficiency.
- Present our system design to customers and partners and negotiate adaptations between partners and Wayve’s engineering leeds
- Lead the process of technical customer requirement review and negotiations during early stages of an OEM engagement as well as during the OEM program
- Own the creation of the technical specification document of the L2/L3 system for both internal usage as well as partnership programs
- Derive the system requirements and software requirements from customer requirements
- Work closely with the engineering leads and test engineer leads to ensure traceability of our requirements, implementation and tests.
- Support the team to implement ASPICE and ASIL compliant processes

About you
Essential:
- You have a degree in computer science, engineering or a comparable field
- You have proven experience (minimum 8 years) in designing and developing ADAS and L2/L3 autonomous systems for automotive applications
- Extensive domain knowledge in autonomous driving software stacks
- You have previously been involved in an automotive series project, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the automotive development process, ideally at an OEM or Tier1 or Tier2
- You are familiar with the process of requirements engineering and traceability for automotive grade software and ASPICE
- You are strong in negotiating system requirements and technical specifications across multiple stakeholders including internal and external partners and clients
- You have strong understanding of Classical and Adaptive AutoSAR frameworks
- You have a strong understanding of ISO 26262 functional safety standards and experience in applying safety concepts to automotive system design.
- You are deeply curious about building something new and relish the idea of helping to define AV2.0 and how we build it.
Desirable:
- Extensive experience in machine learning technologies, especially as applied to autonomous driving is a plus
- Familiarity with neural network architecture design and optimization for real-time embedded applications is a plus
- Awareness of SOTIF process and its influence in systems design is a plus
